Abstract: One of the aspects of the Langlands program concerns about harmonic analysis, especially Harish-Chandra's ''philosophy of cusp forms'' which culminates in the Langlands classification theorem locally and Langlands' Eisenstein series theory globally. In this talk, we focus on the local theory. Following Muller's theorem for principal series about 40 years ago, we give an unsurprising, but unexploited irreducibility criterion for generalized principal series based on two novel observations.
