Abstract : We propose a new finite difference MAC scheme based on the staggered mesh for the compressible Navier-Stokes equations. The key features are the consideration of the full range of physical relevant adiabatic exponent and the application of the upwind flux and the artificial diffusion. We show that the scheme is unconditionally stable and upon that we build up the consistency formulae of the scheme. Finally, we show the convergence of the numerical solution to the dissipative measure-valued solution and the strong solution as long as the latter exists.
