Abstract：

Nonlinear scalar field equation is one of the most-studied and well understood nonlinear ellipticequations. We report recent work on the asymptotic behavior of ground state solutions. As applications this yields adirect proof of the logarithmic Sobolev inequality by passing limit in the Sobolev embedding.
