Science Inquiry that Matters-Professor William Richard Veal-College of Charleston

题目:Science Inquiry that Matters

Abstract :The purpose of this workshop and sample lesson plans and instructional modeling is to introduce students to matter and its properties. Specifically, students will classify materials based upon observations s and measurements of matter. For example, students will develop a simple closed-circuit instrument that they can use to determine the conductivity of different objects using an inquiry approach. Students will also devise an experiment to determine which surface will allow an ice cube to melt the fastest and determine if the total weight of the matter has standard units of measurement such as weight, time, temperature, and volume. The amount of weight or mass of matter is conserved when matter changes states. Electrical conductivity is used to measure a physical property of matter.
