Abstract: We investigate full information on the existence and nonexistence of traveling waves of a two-group SIR epidemic model with latent period. We consider two cases: with or without vital dynamics. For both two cases, we show that when the basic reproduction ratio $R_{0}$ is larger than one, there exists the minimal wave speed $c^*>0$ such that for each $c>c^*$, the system admits a nontrivial traveling wave solution with wave speed $c$, and for $c<c^*$, there exists no nontrivial traveling waves satisfying the system. When $R_{0} /leq 1$, we further show that the system admits no nontrivial traveling waves. In addition, for the case with vital dynamics, we also prove that the critical wave (traveling wave with c=c^*) exists.
